Dada Changed My Life (2003)
Dada Changed My Life Awarded 1st Prize at "Brave Destiny: Master Surrealist Exhibition and Film Festival."
The 29-minute experimental documentary about the Cabaret Voltaire and a group of artists who raised the alarm about its planned transformation into a pharmacy and apartments shared the first prize with "The Penetrating Needle"
by Arlene Ducao at the Williamsburg Art and Historical Center's "Brave Destiny: The Master Surrealist Exhibition and Film Festival on Saturday October 4th, 2003.
This is the 2nd US award the film has received since being completed in July 2003; the first was for Best Documentary at the "DV Awards" in Utah.
It has also received a Special Mention at the "FOC Cinema" Festival in Castellon, Spain as well as being selected to participate at the Raindance Film Festival in London, UK and five festivals in Spain: Festivalito International Digital Cinema Festival of La Palma, the Canary Islands; the Carmona Film Fest, Carmona, Sevilla; Visual 03 in Madrid; Cadiz.doc in Cadiz and Eurovideo in Malaga and has been invited to the Injuve's "Urbania" Exhibition in Madrid and the "Observatori" in Valencia.
The creators are very happy because their efforts have not been in vain. Recently the City of Zuerich and the Swatch Group have donated money to rent the Cabaret Voltiaire; use it as a cultural platform for Dada events, performances and artists as well as providing a possibility for a temporary exhibition of Dada art from the Kunsthaus' vast collection.
