Dada Changed My Life (2003)
"Another New York Screening of Dada Changed my Life."
The L.E.S. has invited Daniel Martinez and Olga Mazurkiewicz to take part in its Ninth Annual Lower East Side Festival of the Arts, May 28-30th, with a screening of Dada Changed My Life at 4 PM on Saturday April 29th at the Theater for the New City 155 First Avenue (between 9th and 10th Streets) in New York.
The documentary has recently screened throughout the United States to enthusiastic audiences at the Anthology Film Archives (preceded by a DADA Séance performed by DADAnewyork, opera singer Rosateresa and djs Los Polones) in the Reel Roundtable’s Film Medley; the opening night of the 2004 season at Cabaret Voltaire in Los Feliz, Los Angeles; and the DC Independent Film Festival (where it was in the Official Selection). The generous support of the American Institute for Polish Culture in Washington DC enabled the co-directors to attend its screening there.
The video has received numerous awards in the United States including Best Documentary at the DV Awards in Park City, Utah; 1st Prize at Brave Destiny: Master Surrealist Film Festival in New York City; 2nd Prize at the Nihilist Film Festival in Santa Monica, Los Angeles, and has been selected to participate in the Official Selection at the Raindance Film Festival, London (UK) among others, as well as being selected for various art exhibitions throughout Spain.
Daniel and Olga are currently working on a feature length documentary with interviews with North American art and cinema personalities, who will narrate their conflicts with the United States’ the cultural politics, government and its extreme forms of repression.
