Rain Down on Me

Published by Mats Silberg at 10:42 am under Oya Festival, Øyafestivalen

Oslo is going haywire weatherwise lately. At about 3 am Tuesday, I woke up thinking my apartment had exploded. It turned out to be the most ridiculously loud thunder I have ever heard. And after a splendid day at the Øya Festival yesterday where I was mumbling disappointingly to a friend of mine that I should have been wearing shorts and sandals and was getting concerned that I didn’t bring any sun block, clouds started rolling in from the west, presumably to cool off the crowd that was moshing ftw along with Matt Caughtran of the Bronx.

rainBah. So wet!

I don’t really know them that well, but decided right there and then that I intend to become a fan. Suits me too, as I haven’t updated my hardcore punk horizon since Black Flag. My friend Andreas is a fan, and brazenly claims that The Bronx left every other band at Øya in the dust not knowing what hit them with magnificent efficiency.

notrainMockingly nice afternoon weather.

They got about 20 minutes of the good weather, before rain came down in torrents the likes of which we don’t see in Norway. We have the gulf stream and everything, which is supposed to stabilize things. Not so anymore. And then, to spite us, after about 20 or so minutes of The Bronx and The Rain, it all cleared up again, and the sun was yet again shining. Great! Now I’m soaked from the top of my head to the bottom of my feet, and the weather gods are mocking me! Alas, this is festival.
